Do I need to complete the regular or stand alone remote start installation for my vehicle?

I have a 2012 Nissan Altima, fully loaded with push to start ignition, I have purchased EVO-NIST1 remote start kit and flash link updater.  I have downloaded wiring diagrams and installation instructions from FORTIN and Wire Color websites but am unsure of which of the installation procedures to follow as well as whether the flash link updater is required.
