trouble programming

on step 4 of the programming for my 05 honda element, the red led does not pause, it just continues to flashe every second or so. I've recheched my connections. originally it was powered through my remote start, for troubleshooting purposes i powered and grounded the bypass directly and i'm getting the same issue.

The module keeps flashing because it does not see ignition on the yellow wire. Verify this wire.

I've tested the ignition wire, yellow wire, coming back to the bypass module and it's reading 12.2 volts. Is it possible that i have firmware or hardware issues at this point?
