2016 CX-9 security light doesn't stop blinking

0 votes
I have a 2016 CX-9 and choose the EVO-ALL along with a 1-way RF kit from cimestopper. I worked through step 7 with the first OEM key and the security indicator did not stop blinking for more than 5-6 seconds. In a bit of a panic, I turned the ignition off and tried again with a second OEM key. The security inidicator took a long time before turning off, but the EVO-ALL only shows the yellow light.

When I restart the programming from step 1, I can no longer get the unit to turn yellow in step 6 where I press the PTS twice.

Is it safe to master reset the unit and try again? Following the reset instructions here: https://fortin.ca/en/qa/403/programming-evo-all

Also, any known issues when the security indicator takes too long to turn off?

I finished the install by using a second EVO-ALL. One of the root issues was still related to my wiring. The Data Key and Data Door Lock lines are light gauge wires, perhaps 24-26 AWG. This caused an intermittant connection issue with the T-Tap connectors I was using. The solution was to switch to another inline splice connector that worked much better. I found the connection issue by measuring the voltage on the two data lines. They should be ~11.5V all the time relative to ground, my lines at the EVO-ALL connector was cutting in and out.

I was still having programming issues until I decided to remove the batteries from the OEM remotes as suggested by another thread on this forum. Removing the back cover caused me to hold the remote backwards. (Mazda logo facing start button) While this seems like a trivial change, the programming sequence when exactly as described in the instruction once this change was introduced.

I plan to use my first EVO-ALL on my other car, a VW GTI. I believe, the unit is still good and can be reflashed.
