Do I need to purchase a seperate rf kit or will the remote starter work without it? Also there is a white round cylinder with a single wire in the kit. Instruction do not show or tell where to hook into.

round cylinder in a mercury switch for hood detection if factory hood switch is not present.

Yes you will need a rf kit since your factory remote will not work when car is running.
