Chevrolet Camaro Evo All with THAR

Will I need the flashlink updater to update and program the evo-all to remote start my 2012 Chevrolet Camaro 2LS?

You will need the flash link updater  if you want to activate the stand alone feature in the EVO-ALL.

Surprisingly, it isn't working still.  Do you have any more suggestions?

Their could be 2 things going on now,

  1. Not the right T-Harness. There shouild a sticker on it that says THAR-GM1v2, not THAR-GM1.
  2. Firmware on EVO needs an update.

 

Currently if i still look at that service number though, the options are all buggered up. This is letting me believe their may be a firmware glitch going on. The steps to resolove this would be as follows.

  1. Master the reset the EVO. this will clear its memory and reset all the options to factory default. Procedure will be linked below.
  2. Flash the unit with the latest GM firmware, 74.[04]
  3. Master reset the EVO once again.
  4. Reprogram the unit to the vehicle.
  5. Turn on Option 15 and leave every other option the way they are

 

This is how to reset the EVO. Must be done in the vehicle, or on a test bench. Do not use the Flash Link cable to reset the EVO.

  1. Hold down programming button while plugging in datalink connector.
  2. Let go of button when LED is RED.
  3. Push and hold button again until all three LEDs start to alternate.
  4. Disconnect unit, she is now reset.
I checked the harness today and I noticed I dont have THAR-GM1v2, I have the THAR-GM1.  However, after resetting the EVO and reflashing the firmware, I was able to complete everything but the last step. After step 4 the yellow led flashes rapidlly then instead of the yellow led turning on with the blue flashing, my dash read service theft deterrent system.

The GM1 harness will not work with that firmware and will not let you use the stand alone option of the EVO.

On the upside, you can easily change 2-3 connections on the Tharness to convert it to a GM1v2. Or, you can forget about the T-Harness completely and install the just the EVO.

 

option 1, modify GM1 to become a GM1v2:

  1. Cut the yellow/red and light blue/black 2-3 inches from the red connector.
  2. Join both yellow/red and light blue/black from the non connector side (harness side); solder and tape connection.
  3. Take the yellow/red coming from the connector side and put it to a constant 12V source. You can tap into the red wire of the datalink connector for constant 12V.
  4. Take the light blue/black coming from the connector side and connect it to the ignition wire. You should tap into the yellow wire of the EVOs 20-pin white connector.

 

option 2, don`t use a T-harness:
